We wanted the capital ship to represent not just power, but also the intense focus required to operate it. That’s why each capital ship features multiple control, defense, and attack systems.
The main offensive strength of a capital ship comes from its turrets. Positioned on both sides of the ship, these turrets have a high rate of fire, unleashing a relentless barrage of projectiles on the enemy.
The turrets themselves are protected by a dual-shield system, providing solid defense. These shields guard not only the ship's weaponry, but also its core, the very heart of the ship that powers all of its systems.
The core is the ship’s vital nerve center. It drives the internal mechanics and safeguards the part of the ship that houses the consciousness of Old Joe. We designed it this way to reflect the resilience of the ship, mirroring the toughness of the raider who commands it.
Old Joe has managed to create an entire fleet of capital ships, each one controlled by fragments of his own brainwaves. This allows him to operate multiple ships at once. We also wanted to convey the idea of Old Joe as a raider who has fought countless battles across the Neterun colonies, so don’t be surprised if you come across the wreckage of his ships scattered throughout the galaxy.
These wrecks are relics of past battles, tough clashes that Old Joe may have lost, but thanks to his large fleet, he never completely disappeared.
That brings us to the end of this dev diary. We hope you’ll continue to support us and stay tuned for the next one.
Farewell, raiders!
